Tooling Design Manager

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + Per Annum

West Yorkshire (£3,000 - £5,000 relocation package will be offered if required)
Permanent Position

A successful and rapidly expanding Engineering & Manufacturing company based in West Yorkshire are currently looking for a talented and motivated Tooling Design Engineer to take responsibility for the development and growth of their domestic (in-house) tool production facility and team.

Duties will include:

• Designing and developing new and existing press tools for the manufacture of engineering components for applications within a multitude of different industry sectors
• Managing multiple projects and working to deadlines
• Maintaining the required level of quality expected to meet the requirements of the tool room, the business and those of the customers
• Working with experienced toolmakers to update and improve technical drawings and documentation
• Converse with engineers and customers on multi-stage, single operation press tooling and provide solutions to produce parts in accordance with requirements and budgetary constraints
• Ensure management and maintenance of the Company design directory
• Assessment and improvement of customer and previous directory drawings
• Carrying out customer liaison / visits where necessary
• Conducting feasibility studies and reviews
• Ensuring the company Health & Safety policy is adhered to at all times
• Promoting and improving 5S standards where possible
• Undertaking training in line with personal development and company objectives
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties as requested by Senior Management in line with Company requirements

The applicant must have:

• Previous Press Tool design experience with a strong toolmaking background
• Proficiency with CAD /CAM software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works or other 3D design packages
• Strong new product introduction (NPI) background
• Experience designing multi-stage, progression and single operation tooling
• Ideally have served an Apprenticeship in Mechanical Design or Toolmaking etc.
• Possess a qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
• Have thorough knowledge of materials, planning jobs, engineering and production operations
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
• Be flexible, adaptable and be able to prioritise works according to customer requirements
• Hold excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
